About the Briana Marie Cox Foundation Community Scholarship
The application deadline for 2010 has passed. The review process has begun. No further applications are being accepted at this time for 2010 awards. Information on the 2011 awards will be posted here in the Fall 2010.
The purpose of the scholarship is to help others triumph over loss by giving hope for the future at a time when it is much needed. Awarding college scholarships to deserving high school seniors is one way the Foundation can do its part.
Amount of Award:
First place is a one time, non-renewable, award of $3,000 will be paid to the school for which the recipient provides proof of enrollment. Additional awards may be made at the discretion of the judges and Board of Directors.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:
For any Palm Beach County or Martin County high school senior who, in their lifetime, has lost a parent, legal guardian, or sibling. Proof of loss in the form of a copy of the death certificate, or equivalent legal document, is required.
Financial need is not a consideration.
Judging:
Judging will be based on each candidate’s overall prior and continuing achievements, including activity in school organizations, the community, and athletics, as well as their academic record, and interviews in which the candidates will discuss their career plans and personal aspirations. Some special consideration will be given to those interested in pursuing a medical career or career in the ministry (these were Briana’s interests).
